Marten Derk Knip (1785-1845)

Gouache with an Italian landscape with a ruin of a castle on a high mountain and a panorama on a mountainous landscape. A couple in traditional dress is enjoying the view. Not signed but attributed to Marten Derk Knip (1785-1845) one of the members of the well-known Knip family whose members were specialists in this kind of panoramas. Probably this work is executed around 1825 on a travel of Marten ( also called Mattheus) in Italy. In a gilded frame. A beautiful example of early Italianate romantic painting by this South Netherlandish artist.
