Description
Rare elaborately decorated Jogja tea service with unusual decoration of boddhisatva, taotie masks, birds and pagoda-shaped lids. The tea service contains a teapot, coffeepot, sugarbowl, vase with 12 teaspoons and 1 sugar spoon and a vase with a tea strainer, all on a large tray.
The items are marked: ‘made in Jogja’, 800MD, for the workshop of Moeljodihardjo from 1936 on (nowadays Mulyo Pratono).
Condition: overall in fairly good condition, with some scratches on the tray and a dent in the foot/base of the teapot.
