Nettur Petti jewellery box, Dowry box, 18th century With piramid shaped lid.

These boxes were inspired by the temple architecture of Kerala, India.

Interior with lidded compartment Originally covered with painted leather, leather still partly present.

Wooden box with metal fittings, the mounting looks similair to medieval bookclasps.

Dimensions: 29 x 21 x 20 cm.
